It's a great fusion of speed, stealth and subtlety and it's built for the road. Problem is, it needs to be drifted, so we had to take it to a track.
It would be fun to flash a bmw m3 on autobahn doing 270kmh to move in a slower lane because its factory limited to 270 and you can go like 300+
How can I get those rims for my f30?!?
How does this caption refer to "Alpina" as "our penis"?？？
how reliable is an Alpina?
Should’ve used the m sport front bumper 😫
Years after and it's way classier than M3s
Jason camissa or what's his name says BMW can't do anything right these days....
Wat a good driver
All these years later, and I still never get tired of watching that.
ikr?! my fav "sleeper" car
Alpinas always have looked so naf IMO. Horrible oversized wheels, horrible chrome and an Alpina badge which all adds up to make a good looking car look like it’s dressed in a Reebok tracksuit. Spend a couple grand more and get an M car.
A very very fine car indeed.... Too bad about the front body panel gaps that should be visible from pluto on a clear night........!!!
I wish we got this car in the US :/
Watching this in 2020 and remember how much better Chris Harris was before he was diluted by top gear :(
He's diversifying on many platforms now. Topgear isn't his only outlet. It just pays his bills
DC Williams get through what?
Settle down drama Queen. We'll get through this
Chris Harris is the David Attenborough of cars.
Just bought one
I always love when I see alphinas. U know the driver knows about their car.
I was thinking "no Chris green trousers are not OK" then I notice they're shorts and I'm like "hmm well green shorts are ok actually carry on mate" So my question is this - why are green trousers a definite no yet green shorts are a go?
I really hate the rims on alpina’s
How is this guy being able to see the road 🤔 🤣
Alcoholic smoker 🤣
Never been much of a beemer fan, but man if Chris were an Alpina salesman he'd make a sale on me any given day
shame that the B3 is not available in the US market...such bullshit
Give me an Alpina every day of the week, as a discreet drivers car there is nothing better , just wish i had the pennies to buy one
Nice watch too..Is that a Rolex submariner or sea dweller..?
May as well have left the brackets or if the title
The only BMW I'd buy and especially in touring version
Found a 2008 Alpina B3 convertible with 27,000 miles. They want 14k but it has a rebuilt title, should I do it?
What is the soundtrack that start at 0:05?
Did anyone else thought all the time : you are driving too mutch left , you are going to destroy the wheelt on these rocks 😂
Forget m , alpina the real Deal
They' made D over the M
Is Alpina to BMW what RUF is to Porsche?
@dennis foster Alpina, not "Alpine"...
Partly yes. Both alpina and Ruf are official manufacturers and NOT tuners
With the inevitable grey interior for the old grey men who will buy it.
Should've used a N54 Lol
It would be nice to see Chris get more into possible luxury appointments and gadgets on the inside. I say this because soon as anyone who knows better sees the word Alpina... they already know that it's gonna be slower. So show us where the money is being spent.
190 mph?!?!?!?! That’s fucking incredible
0:50 The subtitle says "because people that buy our penis"
This guy gets boring at times. Jeremy or Richard never got boring.
Twin Turbo ≠ Bi Turbo
Definitely turned out to be better looking and less embarrassing than the M3.... aside from the dated looking wheels.
Hi ,;)) can you take the Alpina DS5 2017 please and describe all you can about this car please! Thanks!!!;))
0:49 turn on subtitles
I hate those people.
Haha, Oh dear !!
he have the same watch as mee yay
Those rims looks like they will kerb themselves even when the car is not moving!
where are these roads?
this has to be my 5th or 6th time watching this
Chris Harris... this is not sub-M3 .... NO, this is better than the M3 ..... M3 is rubbish..... this B3 is great !!!
I just don't understand how people can't see how amazing Alpina is!
did he say like a SAAB and M3
How do people think these wheels look good? they're absolutely hideous
Where are the tyres :o
"You can easily get... ZOOM" 2:28 lol
What is the final drive ratio on the rear end?
Where is this? The scenery is so beautiful
CHRIS HARRIS FOR TOP GEAR
better half comes up "Who's the geezer? He stole the car." :D
I've just seen one in black like this one. What an amazing sound
What's the song playing in the background?
Took me along damn time to find, had to email people. Its: Ben Beiny - Raising Awareness Its royalty free music but it costs $49 to get the premiumbeat license to download it without watermark.
A lovely car and a simple yet very good review.
Absolutely awful seating position this guy has chosen. The steering wheel is level with his eyes, lmao.
He's a successful racing driver as well as a journalist .He knows what he's doing ,
You obviously have no idea why he sits this Low. Check out FIA WTCC. They sit on the floor. lowering the weight
are alpinas available in the uk ? can't see that on BMW's site, just on the US site
You can search for Alpina on the Approved Used Search on the normal UK BMW website. If you want to configure a new one, you can here: http://www.alpinaconfigurator.co.uk
Does this Alpina engine still has the 10% bigger engine. It used to be a 3.3liter...I don't know it still is.
WhitewalkerII alright. Thx
It was a 3.3 litre but a long time ago
Does it come in manual?
No only automatic
Go to 19inch wheels and 35-40 profile and stick it in sport mode
I see this car. I love the look and idea of the car. I can only think of how paranoid I would be about constantly getting speeding tickets. It's hard enough not to speed in my diesel X5
The intro.... God bless Alpina! And God bless the art of drifting!
That looks massive !! I thought it was a 7 at first.
Love the Alpina wheels... saw a E60 M5 on giant Alpina rims the other day it it looked fantastic.
I have them on my 335i
Gr6 vid but too short!!!
Hhmm, not really a fan of Alpina's
If you haven't heard of toe compliance and want to know what it is, watch the center of the rear wheel at 5:57.
I think that's just tyre distortion over the bump, it makes it look like the wheel is turning in but it's not actually.
LOL - a BMW ALPINA - Bi Turbo. with 4 exausts.............. " subtle ". I know what he means but still funny.
190 mph is crazy crazy performance for a 3 series - based car. Completely mad
He's always the road by my house!! Hope I get to follow over the mountain one day...
Absolutely great test with awesome shots - love it!
oooo the young Alpina
5:58 with speed 0.25, that's where you cry
Man I know! You can even watch the wheel pivot hard on it's vertical axis like it was steering itself. That's a lot of force at work on the suspension bushings.
+Catalin Mecatalin Indeed it is... I wonder why they fit those massive 20" rims on their cars. Not only does it look slightly unreasonable or even "yobbish". A higher profile tire might allow a slightly more comfortable ride as well, I assume.
its may be more luxurious andncomfortable than the m 3 but not morenpowerfull even the biturbo of alpina ingeneers
The Alpina is NOT less than an BMW M. First of all the Alpina is only limited at 190 mph. (as every audi bmw or merc (called gentleman's agreement)) Second Alpina got a history. You may not know this but Alpina is the older BMW tuner out there. Third: The BMW M is designed for an aggressive trim for people who want to drive their car on the racetrack. The Alpina is designed for businessmen or other guys who want something different. Alpina is for understatement.
Alpina is NOT a tuner. Its a manufacturer
+WhitewalkerII you'll get it at AMG and Quattro for sure , it's called Driverspackage at AMG and Dynamicpackage at Quattro. That's doable over here in Germany.
+Kleinermann413 Alpina cars are mostly not limited. 305 km/h is its real top speed. BMW, Audi and Mercedes usually limit their cars to 250 km/h, with some sport models that can be unlimited or have a higher limit if you pay for it.
Would you say it is subtle?
+ace855 subtle as a golden rolex
german licence plates but steering wheel on the right side?
S Miller ....british armforces personnel in Germany can order a right hand drive car as per EU rules, and when they return back home, no problem.
Guess its a press car for the British?
Who else cried at 5:54 ?????
Like a river
Yeah i know
Like the song , who know?
He's on the wrong side of the road!
Wish these were available in the U.S.
@MUH FACKS To make it simple: B6 Gran Coupé and B7 are sold in the USA and Canada. D3, B3, D4, B4, XD3, D5, B5, B6 (coupé and gran coupé) and B7 are sold in other countries. The only other model sold in the USA and Canada was the Roadster V8 (Z8), it was the first Alpina sold in America. In other words, America is f***ed partly because of stupid norms.
thought that's what it was; but only seen b7's here in US. i guess b3,b4,b6 are not available in US?
This is the
@Max S. I am sure Alpina doesn't sell engines nowadays because I've never heard of it and it's not consistent at all with their current philosophy. Concerning the Akrapovic exhausts, it's like with other subcontractors (Alpina doesn't make everything, it's the same with Alpina-spec ZF gearboxes). I'm also sure they deliver the parts to Alpina only. For example the BMW M3 GTS Akrapovic exhaust was - and is - only available for M3 GTS owners.
@WhitewalkerII They did sell all the parts (even engines) in the past, and I know for a fact that they sell parts (like wheels and bumpers) nowadays too. Engine...may be a different story (but you can buy engines from almost any other company too, so why not), and the exhaust-system isn't from Alpina themselves to begin with.
Never liked the Alpina wheels though...
+Dennis Kristensen god I wish there was a way to put different wheels on a car. That would be so awesome, I wonder why nobody has thought of that?
Eh I have absolutely no idea why Alpina loves there huge wheels and low pros. Couple that with the biturbo N55? Eh I already booked my European delivery for my M4 Euro Delivery in Welt. I will trade in my 2013 335i Sport Line in March. I test drove 3 different configurations and sealed the deal. I hate that quad exhaust setup. If Apina was trying to be "subtle" and "smooth" why they fit those huge wheels/tires in addition to heavier motor layout and a quad rear exhaust beats me lol. IMHO the M3 18" standard performance wheels and tires, DCT or 6 speed, adaptive suspension, will drive laps around circles around this car. The B7 is definitely something they did right for those in that market. But not for a baby F car....
+Alex Chen The Alpina wheels have a long tradition as the valve of the tire is mounted in the middle (!) of the wheel. I think because of the small salenumbers they only mount two different options.
I've never seen any real Alpina/Hamann BMW on the road before (besides those who only put on the bodykits and rims). Who buys these cars?
+Virelio in cincinnatti ohio there is a black b7. have observed it personally. ive heard one of the Bengals football players. owns it.
+MasMember Really often is exaggerated. I've only seen two yet. And one belongs to my neighbour. E46 B3 manual. He wants to sell it, too.
+Virelio There is a guy in my neighborhood with a B7 and brand new B6 Gran Coupe. I live in California, north of San Francisco.
it is an expensive supergramps
Cost though? What is it... $50 more grand than an M3.. And a worse car
+hêlêl he already is a dumbass. Lol
+Doogie Spence You're just being overly aggressive to everyone because you realise you looked like a dumb ass from your original comment.
+Doogie Spence 50G “MORE” than an M3? Either you can get an M3 for a few thousand pound or you just brain farted big time.
+Doogie Spence Sorry but a "worse car" is subjective with this Alpina - They have been doing this stuff for years and years and there is a very good reason they still exists and sell their cars, but Mr. Harris already explained it in the vid.
+Doogie Spence Did you not watch the video? its $50 grand you moron...
About as much as you need if your 6 numbers came up on the Lottery
I really wish we got all the alpina models in North America instead of Just the B7. There have been so many I have wanted over the years.
+WhitewalkerII another price league
+bizzle6874 You can get the B6 Gran Coupé too
just as fast as the normal C63...
It's funny how times change. A decade and a half ago a limited slip differential was pretty standard for rear wheel drive performance cars but nowadays you have to get a special or at least semi customized model to get one :D I guess it's because electronic cadgets are cheaper to build than high grade steel mechanics like a slip differential. My old Z3 Coupé from 2000 has a 25% locking slip differential but a late model 300hp+ 335i lacks one.. :D
@***** Yeah I guess you're right. Me I'm just old fashioned mechanics-kind-a guy. Modern cars have much more advanced stability control electronics than older cars but still.. In a 300+hp German sports coupé I'd think there ought to be a slip differential no matter what.. :D
Great car, but Alpinas design for add-ons, wheels and big letters on the trunk is very ugly.
Why can't we have the B3/B4 in the US? Sigh.
And yeah, I know we have the b6/7. Saw a b6 last week.
We're one of the biggest if not the biggest importers of luxury cars in the world. The Chevy/ford thing only applies to trucks and people living in the rust belt and other rural areas. Where I live it's all German and Japanese cars.
But no b3/4 :/
@Zapp Rogerstein Actually, I was just scrolling though the BMW website, and I found that they do infact sell Alpina's here. But only the B6 and B7. (6 series and 7 series) B6: http://www.bmwusa.com/bmw/6series/ALPINAB6 B7: http://www.bmwusa.com/bmw/7series/ALPINAB7
@Zapp Rogerstein Cause Americans only love heavy, fuel-devouring old Chevys?
I nut every time i see those wheels
